    2024 City Election

    The Whittier City Election will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

    The last day to register to vote or update your voter information is September 1, 2024. You can register to vote or update your voter information here: https://voterregistration.alaska.gov/

    To be eligible to vote in the City of Whittier, you must register 30 days prior to the city election with an address within the city.

    If you have changed your name, residence address or mailing address, you should update your voter registration information. Voters may register to vote or update their voter registration at any of the following locations during regular office hours:

    • Clerk’s Office, Public Safety Building, 660 Whittier Street
      Monday – Friday
    • State Division of Elections – Region II Elections Office,
      2525 Gambell Street, Suite 100, Anchorage
      Monday – Friday
    • Check your Voter Registration status or apply on-line at https://myvoterinformation.alaska.gov/

    What if I moved out of Whittier and forgot to update my voter registration?
    You will need to cancel your voter registrations through the State of Alaska Division of Elections as they oversee the voter rolls. Head over to https://www.elections.alaska.gov/Core/cancelyouralaskavoterregistration.php or call the Division of Elections at (907) 522-8683 or toll-free at (866) 958-8683.

    I’m going to be out of town on Election Day. What are my options?

    You have two options: first, you can apply to receive a ballot by mail. Visit the Document Center to fill out the application.

    Second, you can vote early in-person at the Public Safety Building between September 9th and September 30th.

    I’m out of town during the entire election season, including the early voting and on Election Day. What are my options?

    You can apply to receive a ballot by postal mail at a temporary address. The application can be found in the Document Center.

    • Registered voter in Whittier
    • Enjoy engaging with the public
    • Ability to perform duties in a neutral and non-partisan manner

    Note: Election workers should not work or volunteer for a candidate’s campaign or a ballot initiative on the municipal ballot. Additionally, individuals with familial relationships with candidates are ineligible to serve as election board members or officials.
