City Council is Whittier’s governing body and consists of seven members who are elected for three-year terms on a rotating schedule. The Mayor is elected each year, at large, by all Council members. The Council sets city policy, enacts resolutions and ordinances, and adopts the city’s budget each year. They work closely with the City Manager to ensure effective and efficient operation of the city.
